Comments

Letting listeners discuss the content they are on

Introduced in v2.0.75, RKHM now features a robust, highly interactive comments system. This system is disabled by default

Key Features

  1. Support for all objects: You can enable comments on almost everything!
  2. SoundCloud-Style Waveform Comments: If you have waveforms enabled, when a user posts a comment while listening to a track, the exact time offset is recorded. Their comment will dynamically display directly on the visual waveform just like SoundCloud!
  3. Nested Replies: Users can reply to comments, allowing for engaging, threaded conversations
  4. Community Moderation: Users can upvote helpful comments or report inappropriate content
  5. Grace Period Deletion: To prevent typos or accidental submissions, users can delete their own comments for a short period immediately after posting.

Step 1: Enabling & Configuring Global Settings

To activate and configure the comment infrastructure, navigate to Admin Panel -> Settings -> User -> Comments. On this page, you can manage the following:

Global & Object Controls: Turn the commenting system completely on or off, or selectively enable it for specific object types (e.g., tracks, albums).

Comment Depth: Customize how deep reply threads can go. Setting this to 1 disables replies entirely (flat comments), while higher numbers allow users to reply to replies.

Step 2: Setting Up User Permissions & Auto-Approval

By default, users do not have permission to post comments. You must grant access via user roles:

Navigate to Admin Panel -> Users -> Roles -> User (or your preferred user-role).

Enable the Comment Access permission.

(Optional) Enable Auto-Approve if you want their comments to appear on the platform instantly without manual moderation.

Pro-Tip: You can create multiple user roles to build a tiered access system. For example, you can require manual approval for new sign-ups, but assign verified or premium users to a custom role that enjoys instant auto-approval.

Managing & Moderating Comments

As an administrator, you have full oversight over your platform's discussions. To review, delete, approve, or manage reported entries, simply head over to:

Admin Panel -> User -> User Content -> Comments
